Shopping or no shopping, that’s the question…

Shopping or no shopping, that’s the question…

I just read an article about how unsatisfied we are in our lives. We always want more and more and don’t even recognize these desires. Just a new phone, new clothes or new cosmetics. It seems totally normal we want these things and buy them when we wish. So it made me think. What would happen if we stop buying extras, and just buy what we actually need. Will we feel sad or even depressed? What would you think?

Minimalist motto is: Less is More. This is not that slogan that capitalism would appreciate. Where can we find the right balance then? I’m a true believer in balance, this is why I became a coach to help others to find their balance or at least work towards it. You need to listen to your inner voice, what you truly desire. Shopping is fun, especially if you want to surprise your loved ones or find a creative product. And in this world you can get anything you’ve dreamed of.  If not, just buy a 3D printer and create it yourself.

So it’s a valid question where is the healthy limit, how can we control our shopping habits, and spend our money wisely. Like in the minimalist lifestyle we can set a number of how many items we can own. I’m sure it works for some of us, for me I couldn’t imagine it as a solution, I’m too emotional for that and spontaneous. I like to collect remembrances, souvenirs, antiques, because it makes me happy. Being satisfied and happy is the key to find the balance. If you’re buying something and you have a guilty feeling about it, please do not buy it, because you don’t need it. Your soul is telling you the answer, you just need to listen to yourself. Maybe it’s saying to yourself, that you have enough.

Not just guilt that you could feel after a purchase, if you feel emptiness, because buying something just meant a moment of happiness for you, it probably means it was an unnecessary purchase. I think we can control our desire to want more and more and say it’s enough, and just stop and enjoy the moment and embrace everything that we already have and wait till you fall in love with a new thing and it’s worth buying it.
